two-fold
all work and no play makes [karen] a dull [girl].
SO... i've done both.
i'd have pictures from the fun part if my genius sister could figure out how to send them via email.
as for work, i learn something new everyday - it is my goal to create a comfortable makeshift bed with a chair, a coffee table, and a window ledge to get me through 12.5 hr night shifts; keep your distance when working with toomey syringes, mucous-plugged catheters, and a patient's urine; beware of a patient's freshly defecated arse, especially when turning the drafty side of a hospital gown towards your own body and new set of scrubs; abrading your skin till raw with foamy soap and clorox bleach wipes as a result is a-OK, contrary to popular belief; and medical dictionaries make for interesting reads:
Chinese restaurant syndrome
A group of transient symptoms that some persons report after eating at restaurants that add monosodium glutamate (MSG) to some of their recipes. The syndrome may be a valid clinical condition, but it has not been proven that MSG is the cause and its linkage to Chinese ethnicity is pejorative and offensive.
